question on both grammar and meaning...plz help

To believe the commercials, sport utility vehicles can climb the most indomitable mountain, ford any stream and haul around the kids to boot.

1) "to believe ...." how can SUVs believe?
2) what does "haul around the kids to boot" mean?

1) It is not SUVs you believe, it's commercials. There is a comma between them.

2) Haul around means carry to places: the movies, school, etc. To boot means in addition to or as an extra feature: besides what a motor vehicle normally does.

In addition, the sentence is awkward if "to believe the commercials" modifies the subject "SUVs":

EX: *For SUVs to believe the commercials, SUVs can . . . .

Repair
EX: If you believe the commercials, SUVs can . . . .
EX: According to the commercials, SUVs can . . . .
