    I would have thought that you, as a national chess coach, could have imagined the sort of move that some might call elegant: elegant - Dictionary definition and pronunciation - Yahoo! Education

    That would depend on the speaker's opinion of the move. 'Nice' is a rather woolly word that can cover a range of ideas - including 'elegant'. You, as a national chess coach would know rather better than a linguist or teacher whether any chess move can be called 'perfect'.
