    Hi danielestrella,

    Welcome to the forum.

We use "sb has been around the block" to say that someone has experienced many different situations and can deal with new situations in a good way.

Interestingly, both my flatmate and I immediately felt a rather less salubrious meaning here. In BrE, it is applied to a woman who is very sexually experienced, but with a negative connotation. It would be said of someone who has slept around, had many sexual partners, been a bit of slut (slang definition).

I had the same response to the expression as emsr2d2 and her flatmate.

Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.
