    Hi...
    Why do some names of countries change from Spanish to English and some don’t?
    E.g. España….Spain but Portugal……Portugal…..the same …..Why?

    Cities, too. Roma is Rome and Venezia is Venice.

    More important or prominent places tend to be Anglicised. Those with difficult pronuciations (for English speakers) will tend to be adapted as well.
