    Default Up/Down/etc.

    Hello there!

I would like to know why do we say "The object fell down" and not just "The object fell",obviously when something fall,is DOWN or " Open up" and not just "Open the bag" ?

    Thanks.

Frequently, there is no logic to English and, I would dare to venture, many other languages. It's just the way we say things, and that's the only explanation that can be offered.
