Hello,

I've got a multiple-choice test question which reads
"I've lost my camping gas____"
a) light b) spray c) stove

The compound noun we have in our coursebook is "...stove", and the test compiler obviously wanted students to go with c). But after one student chose a), I googled the noun and got some hits. I 'd like to make sure 'camping-gas light" does exist so as not to make a mistake when marking the paper.

I don't know in what context "camping-gas light" appears on the net, but I don't recognise it as a common term.

The only correct answer in my view is "camping gas stove".

"Camping-gas light" is strange. "Camping gaslight" or "camping gas light" are possible.

I'm no camper but I've never heard anyone refer to a "camping gas light", but I've heard "stove" many times.

However, clearly a that product in Barb's link is a light which runs on gas and is designed for camping. I think, in BrE, having never seen one before and asked what it was, I would probably refer to that simply as a "camping lantern" or maybe a "camping light", but I can see that there is no reason not to include the word "gas" as we do with "camping gas stove".
