A man made a joke in very bad taste one minute ago.
I talked with my friend:
1. I thought his joke was in very bad taste.
2. I think his joke was in very bad taste. (Is it correct?)
Thank you.
If the joke was told that recently, you're making a comment about it almost directly afterwards, and it's still how you feel, then I would use "think". However, after the evening is over and you're on your way home, if you referred back to that joke, I would use "thought".

Imgine a man and a woman is having a chat now.
Woman: What are you thinking right now?
Man. I was thinking whether I had enough money to buy a new car.(Actually, he wants to buy a new car)
Man: I am thinking whether I have enough money to buy a new car.
Which of the above sentences are correct?
