usage of "ever"

Dear Teacher,

what is the difference when I say:
"It was the best party ever." AND "It has been the best party every."
I thought the only correct version is the second one. But most people use the first one. Is there any difference?

Both "It was..." and "It has been..." are correct. The first is more likely after the party, and the second towards the end of the party.
