Default purpose clause/for him to learn a lesson

    Are these sentences correct:

1-They beat him up to teach him a lesson.

2-They beat him up so that he would learn a lesson.

3-They beat him up for him to learn a lesson.
4-They beat him up to learn a lesson.

5-They sent him to Las Vegas to have fun.

It seems to me that "1", "2" and "5" are correct and "4" is not. I have stronger doubts about "3" than about "1" and "2",

Of 1 to 4, 1 is the only one you'll ever need - and hopefully, not too often.
    2. is possible, but you can safely forget 3 and 4.
