Can anybody tell me 'photography' from 'taking pictures' please?
How can I explain the differences between the two terms to my students?
For me, both are just about taking photos of some objects and developing.
P.S.: I might be lazy or stupid. I googled first but fail to find satisfactory definitions. ㅠㅠ

Very crudely, photography is an art, a profession, a hobby, etc.
Taking pictures is what I do with my disposable camera when I go on holiday.
Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.
People who are into "photography" worry about light levels, which lens to use and what f-stop is appropriate to best capture the subject.
People who take pictures just push a button and have no idea what an "f-stop" is..
