    Hi all,
Can anyone tell me what's the word for a person in charge of taking or checking tickets in say a train station?

    Thanks in advance.

In the UK, we have "ticket inspectors" and "ticket collectors" at the stations where there are no electronic ticket machines.

On board the train, we have "ticket inspectors" who might also be referred to as "guards" (note, this is not like a security guard).

In my (very limited) experience with trains in the US, tickets are taken by a "conductor" who is aboard the train.
