Default nothing there for her to pinch

Aomame had no excess flesh, only muscle. She would confirm this for herself in detail each day, standing stark naked in front of the mirror. Not that she was thrilled at the sight of her own body. [...] She couldn’t stop herself from scowling at the sight of her own body, but there was nothing there for her to pinch.
    (H. Murakami; 1Q84)

I surmise that it should mean something like "to remove (some fat, for example) in order to produce a certain shape".
    Am I right?

In case I am is it a common usage of the word 'pinch'?

    Thanks.

If you pinch the fat around your middle, you take it between your thumb and forefinger and squeeze so that a small amount of it protrudes from your body. If someone has absolutely no body fat, then there would be no fat there for them to pinch. I, sadly, have handfuls of the stuff!

Look here for a picture of someone pinching the fat around their middle.

    Thank you, emsr2d2.

Now I see that it was used in the commonest sense of the word... I, for some reason, thought it should go beyond that.
