    Default advise or advised?

    Which of the following is correct : 'you advise me at the conference' OR 'you advised me at the conference'

    If the conference is in the past, then use "advised."

    It is possible (unlikely, but possible) that there is an annual conference and you are using "advise" as a habit.
    I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
