    Default comparative structure

    Hello! I'm a teacher of English and would like to know if it's possible to use "less" with short adjectives eg: 'less big' especially when the 2 compared items are both 'big'

    No, less is not used that way. A thing can be not as big as another thing but not less big than another thing.
