Hello.
What does the last sentence mean in this context?
Does it mean the floor slammed down like a door?
(It's a retelling of Cinderella.
The other night, Yetiffe hacked off her heel to fit inside the glass shoe.)
Yetiffe pushed her own right foot into the glass slipper, and stood up.
Held the foot out to show the messenger.
Who failed to offer her his arm.
Stepped back from her, in fact.
Away. Up. Screams in the hall. The floor rose like a wave.
Slammed like a door.
Hi Frindle,
The imagery here is wonderful:
The floor rose like a wave.
(Here the author describes the sight of Yetiffe losing her balance).
[The floor] Slammed like a door.
(Here the author describes the sound of Yetiffe crashing to the floor).
