    Default note or notes

    If there are some scribbling on a piece of paper, does one describe the page as "handwritten note" or "handwritten notes"

    It depends on the content. A "handwritten note" would / could be a meaningful sentence(s), whereas "notes" would suggest single words or phrases that perhaps only the author would understand. But your term "scribbling" suggests to me the latter, i.e. "notes".
