Question about 'most of'

Hi Teachers,
I have a couple of questions.
a) Could you tell me if 'most of' is a determiner in the sentence below? And if it is so, is it a 'quantifier' inside the classes of determiners?
b) Does the sentence below need 'in a queue' for example at the end or it can stand by itself without it?
Most of the workers are standing.

It depends whether those workers are in fact standing in a queue. Maybe they're just standing and the remaining workers are sitting. Without context, it's impossible to say. The sentence you have quoted can stand alone perfectly well as long as there are other sentences around it which help us to make sense of it.

There are 100 workers in the room. Some of the workers are sitting. Most of the workers are standing. The managers are lying down.

Thank you for your reply. You're right, 'without context it's impossible to say. By the way, should I assume that 'most of' is a determiner and a quantifier or I should only think on 'most' as a pronoun?
