I cannot open the file, and many people will not even try to open an attachment they do not know or trust.
To avoid any risk, upload it on Google Docs and take a look at it in your browser. If it were a malicious file (even it is not an executable file, the file might be a specially crafted one which could exploit certain weaknesses of your .doc viewer - usually Microsoft Word - in order to attack your system), it would not be able to affect your system.

If you want to have someone review your written material, display it so that everyone can easily read it. I, for one, am very apprehensive about opening unknown files and, as a rule, will not open such files.
I agree. In fact, I advise members not to open unknown files.
