Beginning a sentence with a $ figure...

Is this sentence illegal in the English Language "$20 will be given back.".

There is no such thing as "illegal" in sentences, since there are no laws.

In formal English, one would not begin a sentence with a dollar sign and a number. If one cannot rephrase the sentence, one can spell out "twenty dollars".

In informal English it is fine.
