    Default make/set/start etc

His words made me think / got me to think / set me to think / started me to think.
His words set / got / started me thinking.

The flood sent/had/got/started the prices shooting up.
The flood made/had the prices go up || got/set the prices to go up.

    Are these constructions all right?

Here is how I'd do it:

His words made me think / got me to think / set me to think / started me to think.
His words set / got / started me thinking.

The flood sent / had / got / started the prices shooting up.
The flood made / had / got / set the prices to go up.
The flood made / had / got / set the prices to go up.

    "His words made me think."
"His words set / got / started me thinking."
"The flood caused prices to go up".
    The above are correct.
