    Default What is you sense?

We don't have enough money. Perhaps we should forget the holiday plans. What is your sense?

What is the meaning of 'What is your sense?' ?

    Thank you.

I have no idea. It makes no sense at all to me. The only thing I can think is that the person is saying that they should cancel their holiday because they have no money, and they're asking the other person how they feel about the situation but it's a very strange way of doing so.

The natural English would be 'What do you think?' or 'What is your opinion?'

I think somebody has probably translated an idiomatic expression literally from another language.

Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.

I don't have a problem with this. "What is your sense of what we should do?" Maybe it's more American.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
