Smile bring them down like a conductor

Hello. Would you tell me what 'bring them down' means in this context?
Can it mean 'conduct them like a conductor'?
    Thank you.

"You have to do it at exactly the same time, or no one will understand you.
    Here, watch me."
She raised her arms, counted to three and
brought them down like a conductor.
They all shouted together at exactly the same time, "Nerville"

She moved her arms as a conductor of a musical group would.

She raised her arms. Then she lowered them, in a movement that reminded the author of a conductor.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
