    Default What do "letters" mean?

I saw an item named "A collection of letters of Dickens" on Amazon.com. What do "letters" mean here? I've looked it up in the dictionary and it seems to be something related to literature. I'm not sure what it means exactly, though. Please let me know.

It means the letters (correspondence, mail) he wrote in his life, though in his case, he destroyed a lot of them.
