What is the best choice and is not "narrow" strange in this position?
Me and the book The book and I both ["both" is not needed here] agree on 1.
Narrow is an adjective. A "narrow range" is a very, very common collocation.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
