    Default narrow

A fairly narrow ------ of people are responsible for key decisions.
    1)range 2)acclaim 3)amount 4)rate

What is the best choice and is not "narrow" strange in this position?

Me and the book both agree on 1.

Me and the book The book and I both ["both" is not needed here] agree on 1.
Narrow is an adjective. A "narrow range" is a very, very common collocation.

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
