    Default covering

Should I understand the "covering" in the following as meaning "including"?

Altogether, Jobs's name would appear on three hundred and thirteen Apple patents, covering clasps, designs, power cords, and that graceful glass staircase.

    Thank you.

    That's close enough.
I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.

"Cover" is the word used to describe the invention claimed in a patent and its area of use. Google the phrase "patents covering" to see how this is used.
