where can I ind definitions for the terms "narrative with plot" and "narrative devices"?

A narrative device does, I think, have to do with storytelling. Do you have any context for that?

I thought a narrative device was something used to enable the story to flow, like people in Shakespeare overhearing conversations, etc. ;-)
