dropped the cheaper model Please set me clear on the following in red.
Customers lined up to pay from $499 to $599 for an iPhone, ... Sales picked up steam after Apple cut the top price that fall by $200 to $399 and dropped the cheaper model.
Does the above mean "Apple discounted the highest price of iPhone by $200 to $399 and also discounted the price of the cheaper iPhone"?

Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.
