send people to me vs send people my way

Hello.

It seems to me that they're quite interchangeable, but also have a feeling that there's a slight difference between them. But I can't figure it out. I have even Googled the expression " send people my way" to no avail. Is there any difference? If there is, could you please tell me what it is?

This sounds like a plea or an offer from a business person who is seeking customers.

Subtle difference, IMHO.


"I need my house painted,"

That's what my company does. Send them my way" (give me the referral)

or "send them to me' (I will personally take care of them)
