Need Terminology Help

I'm certain there is a term describing the relationship of 'listener and symphony'. Another relationship is 'observer and masterpiece'. I can't for the life of me think of what it is. It's not an analogy. If anyone can help me here I'd really appreciate it. :)

I guess you have an ellipsis in mind i.e. a pair of nouns being in such a strong relationship that they are deprived of any articles. We have parallel structures and contrasting structures:

man to man
face to face
from town to town
step by step

husband and wife
mother and child
day and night
town and country
body and soul
from beginning to end

e.g.
In classical music, a cadenza is a long and technically difficult solo passage in a piece for soloist and orchestra.
It stays between lawyer and client.
We hope this book will act as a bridge between doctor and patient.
The uncommon relationship of Queen Victoria and John Brown was always that of queen and servant only.

I guess so but that doesn't seem right. I want to say it's a longer term. English class was soo long ago. lol! Least ways, I think it was an English term. I don't know. Maybe I'm thinking of a scientific one instead. Oh well. Thank you for helping me. :)
