present perfect tense? I read this in a book
"I have been away on holidays and I have just returned to the office"
Why did the writer use "have been away" and not "was on holidays?

Teacher Re: present perfect tense? Because his absence extended up to the moment of speaking, or very shortly before that.
Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.
