Default turn a corner

please help me with this expression. Is it "turn a corner" or "turn the corner" ?

If you turn the corner, it means your situation starts improving after a difficult time.

ex.

Mike has been in the hospital for 2 months. He has been finally taken off the breathing machine and he can breathe on his own. He is definately turning the corner and we are really happy.

If you are talking in general terms, you can use the indefinite article "a".
