    Which preposition is correct here?

    I wonder if man can really be happy through science.
    I wonder if man can really be happy by science.

    How would you express the same idea if you were supposed to use man as the subject of the if-clause, tdol?

    That would not be how I would say it either but is the only way I can think of given the constraints. I would say "I wonder if science can really make man happy."

    Yes. I thought tdol would say that. But right now I'm thinking about the proper preposition, so I asked him (or her?) to use man as the subject.
