    Exclamation Multiple choice problem

    Hi
Would you please tell me the reason of choosing the first choice as the correct answer? I know that we can make a noun negative by the use of 'no' and a clause by 'not', but why choice number 2 is not acceptable? That would be really nice of you if you parsed each choice.

.......of her experience she managed ot secure the contract.
    1) No surprise that in view
    2) No surprising that in view
    3) Not surprising that
    4) Not a Surprise that in the view

    thanks in advance

Where did you find this? Whichever option you choose will not result in a grammatical sentence.

If we add 'It was' at the beginning, then only #1 gives a grammatical solution.

    Let's rewrite that sentence:

It is _________ that in view of her experience she managed to secure the contract.

    A) No surprise
    B) No surprising
    C) Not surprising
    D) Not a surprise

B is the only incorrect answer. You could use either past or present tense here, as it's dependent on the context of the conversation.

One other thing; You'll also hear "in light of" instead of "in view of". In fact, it sounds a little more natural to me.

"It's" is not strictly necessary. If you're going to omit "It's" then I would go with either 1 or 3, with 1 being the best choice.

IMO it's incorrect without "it is" or "it was", or as slickvic said "in the light of" or similar.

In spoken, informal English, you'll often hear sentences like "No surprise he won that competition" or similar. However, in a written formal test, I think it's pretty atrocious that they've omitted "It is/It was/It's".
