Respected sir/ maam,
I just wanted to know that while ending the (formal) letter in which case which word should be used. For eg. If i am writing to the principal of the school; what should I use - yours sincerely/ yours obediently/ your truly.

Respected sir/ maam,That is an extremely formal way to start a message in a forum.No greeting is really necessary, but if you wish to use one, the 'Hi (all)' is fine here.

However, different forms may be customary in Indian English. I am afraid I can't help you there.
