1) She is in the seat;
2) She is on the seat.
The two sentences share the same meaning?
What is the difference between in and on there?
It depends how big she is and whether she's sitting. An adult might stand on a seat to change a lightbulb, but a person who's sitting is usually in a seat. But a little girl, even if sitting, is on the seat.
This distinction is used by parents who think their child is old enough to sit properly: 'Sit in the seat.'
