Sorry if I'm asking a worn-out question again, just couldn't find in the FAQ section...

Which is better to use when speaking about installation of some equipment/devices/applianes etc. (or hardware:)? Both in a technical text or in daily speech?


E.g. Installation of control units *to* or *on* the process line?
Installation of an upgraded video card *to* or *on* the base unit?

Are there some some difference, varying shades of meaning, between these two prepositions in this phrase?

I'd greatly appreciate any help, guys, thanks.

http://view.byu.edu/ - This suggests that 'on' occurs in technical areas more than 'to'. In everyday speech, I think I'd do the same.
