Which is correct ?
i)Why did the brawl start ?
or
ii)Why did the brawl started ?
Thanks,
Adarsh
i)
In the interrogative, when we use "do/did" at the beginning, we then use the bare infinitive.
When did you leave?
Why did he go?
Where did you see her?
What did you do?
We don't put a space before a question mark. We do put a space after the number and the bracket in a list, before the words, so:
1) xxxxx
2) xxxxx
***** NOT A TEACHER *****
Adarsh,
(1) This is one of the biggest mistakes that learners make.
(2) And it is one of the easiest things in English to learn.
(a) Please memorize this rule and you will never make this mistake again:
After do/does/did, you ALWAYS use the base form of the verb ( the form of the
verb that you see listed in the dictionary).
(i) Why did the brawl start.
(ii) Where does Mona work?
(iii) When do the children study?
(iv) How did the teacher know?
(v) When did the car go down the street?
(vi) The brawl did not start in the cafeteria.
(vii) Did the brawl start in the morning?
