    Thumbs up Done

    Hello,
I am confusing with the use of "Done" in the next sentense:

The first one is done for you.

If done is past participle why donīt use was insted of is?

    Thanks in advance

If "done" is a past participle, why donīt we use "was" instead of "is"?
The verb here is in the passive voice. To construct the passive, we use an appropriate form of BE plus the past participle of the full verb. 'Past participle' is an unhelpful name for this form of the verb; it often has nothing to do with the past. It is the tense of BE that is the tense of the whole passive construction.

The first one is done. - present simple
The first one was done. - past simple
The first one has been done. - present perfect
The first one is being done. - present continuous/progressive
Context is always important; labelling is rarely important.

If done is the past participle why donīt we use was instead of is? Because "done" is the past participle of "do", but used, in your example, as an adjective, just as in your opening statement where "confused" (as corrected) is the past participle of "confuse" used as an adjective.

    Thanks in advance
I addressed the use of "done" rather than the is/was issue as 5jj has explained.
