what features are expected entertainment to provide in the future,
What's wrong with "what features are expected entertainment to provide in the future,"? Does it have to be "What features expect entertainment to provide in in the future?", then a non-living of "what features" means something to change, which is awkward. I don't know which is wrong.
ex)Of late, 3-D technology has seen a resurgence among electronics companies, particularly those centered around the entertainment industry. Specialists in film, TV, and more are harnessing the technology to provide new and innovative means of experiencing visual media. When people were surveyed about what features are expected entertainment to provide in the future, most chose greater immersion. As a result, companies are striving to take audiences to that future by utilizing 3-D technology to offer more stimuli.

Re: what features are expected entertainment to provide in the future,
It doesn't make sense either way you suggest.
"...what features they expected entertainment to provide in the future" seems best to me.
"...what features are entertainment expected to provide ..." works but feels unnatural.
