pick it back up
Would you please explain the following in red more easily?
There are two reasons why one breath is important. The first is momentum. If you commit to one breath a day, you can easily fulfill this commitment and can then preserve the momentum of your practice. Later, when you feel ready for more, you can pick it back up easily.
Is this saying "you can catch up with or take more breaths" easily?
Thank you.

Re: pick it back up
In what universe can anybody 'commit to one breath a day'?

Yes, it's typical semi-mystical new-age psychobabble, but to the extent that it has any sense unpakwon has got the right idea.

Forgetting the "breath" problem, and subtituting, say, swimming: Let's say you're doing a training program for swimming. It's too heavy for you at the moment because you have some temporary illness. Your coach might say, "OK, but do one lap of the pool each day. When you're well again you can pick it (the training program) back up more easily, as long as you at least do one lap in the pool every day.
You'll have to adapt that to your breathing context as best you can.

Yes. As Raymott says, the original text is talking about mindfulness meditation using breath. It's a practice to pay attention to your breath once a day, not taking a breath a day literally.
