No; it's what I'd expect. This is a bad question, as A and B are both possible; C is also possible, if unlikely, and D is not impossible.

Re: day vs date
I think "day" is the best option because people don't tend to book restaurants weeks or months in advance. (I realize this happens in some "trendy" places, but I am speaking of normal life.)
So it is more natural that someone would ask for a reservation for this Friday or Tuesday or tomorrow. Rather than saying "the 12th" or "the 15th."

Re: day vs date
If I'm going to a restaurant which requires booking, I would normally try to book it over a week in advance (I can assure you I don't go to trendy restaurants!)
I would always book by giving the date and the month.
"I'd like to book a table for six for February 18th please." I might even mention the day of the week just in case of errors. "... for Friday February 18th please."
Returning to the original question though, both A and B are equally likely but given that the reply is "September 8th" I would choose A. Had the response been "For next Tuesday", I would have chosen B.

Reason: Mixed up A and B. Fixed.
