Should "a" be "an" here?
Context:
Posting comments on Chinese micro-blog sites, some said a SUV-style vehicle with a Chongqing number plate was hauled away by the police.

The rule is does it start with a vowel sound? SUV is "ess you vee." "ess" starts with a vowel sound.
So, yes, it should be an SUV where "SUV" is read as "ess you vee."

A,E,I,O,U, -or- "sounds like it" is the way I explain it. I use N.B.A. (enn bee a) as my example, just like SUV.
