    Default how far?

If you are an airline representative and you get a call from a passenger who explains they are running late, is asking, "How far are you?" correct to know the distance they are from the airport? What other some other appropriate responses?

I think for this exercise we can pretend we live in a world where planes wait for late people.
    "How far away are you?"
"How far are you from the airport?"
"How long will you take to get here? The captain was really hoping to get off on time today."
or "How long will it take you to get here?"
"Please hold while I ask the other 299 passengers if they mind waiting."

I'm not a teacher, but I write for a living. Please don't ask me about 2nd conditionals, but I'm a safe bet for what reads well in (American) English.
