Pls check or edit my grammar
EE had a minor cut on his right hand from an empty box that he threw to the recycle container. EE didnt check the box for sharp edges. EE immediately put an antiseptic first aid spray on his hand. Ignacio reported the incident at around 3pm.

EE sustained a minor cut to his right hand, caused by a sharp edge on an empty box he had thrown into the recycling container. EE had failed to check the box for sharp edges. EE immediately applied antiseptic first aid spray to his has. Ignacio reported the incident [to + name] at approximately 3.00pm.
I assume it's relevant that EE failed to check the box for sharp edges, ie that this is some kind of legal requirement to show that the company wasn't at fault, but that EE should have checked the box and it is, therefore, deemed to be his fault that he was injured. Is that correct?

I see nothing wrong here or nothing you would not hear in everyday conversation, except in AmE we would throw "in" or "into" the recycle container.

ps. There's a missing apostrophe in the original - didn't
