uncomfortable subject.
The answer is 4)likewise, but I have a doubt that 1)As a result can also be an answer as the previous part and the following part seem to make a cause-and-effect relationship. But I'm not sure. What do you think?
Q.Which is the correct word for the blank?
1)As a result 2)Furthermore 3)Neverthless 4)Likewise
ex)When you write emails or letters, you may have time to go over what you have written and revise some parts. _______, indirect communication allows you to be more careful with what you want to say. Moreover, writing emails is preferable when you discuss an uncomfortable subject. Isn't it sometimes stressful to talk about a troublesome issue face to face?

Re: uncomfortable subject.
I don't fully understand what you're asking here. An uncomfortable subject is something people don't like talking about- it could be sex, religion, etc.

Re: uncomfortable subject.
I'm sorry my question was regarding if 'as a result' can fit the blank.

No. "As a result" doesn't work. In order for it to fit, it would need to be the case that "indirect communication allows you to be more careful with what you want to say" is a direct result of "having time to go over what you have written and revise some parts". While both are true, they are not a direct cause and effect.
Initially, I thought "furthermore" fitted better but then I re-read it. "Having time to go over what you've written" and "being more careful with what you want to say" actually amount to the same thing so "likewise" fits. The use of "Moreover" in the next sentence also means that "Furthermore" would have sounded strange.

Re: uncomfortable subject.
Thanks a lot, your explanation is right, and I thought in a similar way. But I thought indirect communication includes "to write emails or letters", so it went like this "As part(emails or letters) of A goes like this, as a result, A allows you to be more careful".
I mean "write emails or letters" is a way to prove direct communication's effects. Maybe I'm mistaken.
