"check" or "examine"?

You should let the doctor check/examine your eyes.
Which word is correct? Or both? Which is more common?

Both words are fine, I don't think one is particularly more common than the other.

They both work for me. Examine sounds more professional than check.
I have also heard "test sb's eyes".
