Re: Idon't understend what is consonant and vowels? Vowels and consonants are what make up the English alphabet. There are 26 letters in our alphabet. The vowels are: a, e, i, o , u (and sometimes y) The consonants are: b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x, z
Knowing the difference between these two groups of letters is important because their sounds govern pronounciation.
