Default The history teacher vs. history teacher

(The) history teacher Mr Ross was trying an unusual experiment on his students. He wanted to learn about peer pressure; how it affects people and how powerful it can get.

What do you think sounds best; with or without "the" in front of "history teacher"? Would anyone of the alternatives be incorrect?

Thanks in advance!
