Would anyone help me to solve the following sentence why are they incorrect?
An installation of heater will be commenced. (passive)
An installation of heater will be proceeded. (passive)
An installation of heater will complete. (active)
Ben
I'd say 'a heater will be installed'.![]()
Sorry, I want to know why the voice is incorrect?
I show the correct answer to u.
An installation of heater will commence.
An installation of heater will proceed.
An installation of heater will be completed.
Do u know Why?
I mean that installation cannot be commenced or proceeded by itself. Why use active voice?
An istallation is carried out by human operators, but is it necessary information to pass on to the reader/listener? We often use verbs like this. In the second case, we don't have much choice because the vewrb is intransitive, so we cannot make the passive. Restaurants don't open themselves, but we say 'it opens at 12'. The fact that we know heaters don't install themselves is probably the reason why we don't need the passive.
