In American English make can mean brand, as in What make of car do you drive?.

Quote:
"I'd rather not have bought that make as I have had nothing but trouble with it."

What's the subject?
The subjects are "I" (of "I'd") and "I" (of "I have had").

The main verb phrases are underlined:

Main clause: I would rather not have bought that make/brand
Subordinate clause: as I have had nothing but trouble with it.
